DDDD

An awareness practice using the academy's own steps to notice where an emotion is felt in the body.

Four moments of the same person: eyes closed, a warm colour in the chest, a hand resting on it, and breath lines leaving the lips, with a thin scale below. Watercolour atlas plate.
Plate III · DDDD

DDDD stands for four Turkish words: Duygu, Duyumsa, Dokun, Dillendir (Emotion, Sense, Touch, Voice). First, name the emotion. Then notice where it is felt in the body, place a hand there and express the emotion in words.

At the beginning and end of the practice, the intensity of the emotion is rated from 0 to 10. The difference is a matter of personal observation.

During seminars, the practice is done alone and in pairs. In paired practice, the listener does not interpret or offer solutions, but simply makes space.

These practices are for personal awareness and do not replace medical assessment. Before joining, read the “Before you join” section on the School page.
